WHEN COLORS PROCLAIMED THE GALA

The 21st International Film Festival announced it’s forthcoming with a curtain raiser at Sankhumukham yesterday. The Minister V.S Sunil Kumar inaugurated the function by letting 21 multicolor balloons take flight over the saffron kissed sky, in hopes that this year’s film festival soars high.



“The International Film Festivals played a major role in creating a society of film appreciating locals. It facilitated the transformation of festivals from a venue of movie screening to a platform of critical discussions” said the minister.
The event also marked the valedictory function of Touring Talkies, a mobile initiative by the Chalchithra Academy to extend the reach of urban-centered festival to rural areas of the state. The venture which started at Kasargod district received popular acceptance, as it successfully 70 screenings across the 14 districts of the state. “The Academy will carry forward the venture to establish regional centers which can collaborate with libraries, schools, local self governments and colleges across the state to screen critically acclaimed movies”, said, Kamal the Chairman, Chalachitra Academy. “Attempts will be made to screen World movies with Malayalam subtitles”, he added. The Chairman expressed strong regret in the inability to provide more delegate passes due to the limitations in the seating capacities of theaters.    
P.Sreekumar, The chairman of the Cultural Welfare Board released the poster for the event.
Bina Paul, the Vice-Chairperson of Chalachitra Academy, Mahesh.B, Secretary, Chalachitra Academy,  R.Satheesh Kumar, Councilor of Trivandrum Corporation, Director, T.K. Rajeev Kumar and Actors Madhupal and Jalaja were present in the function.
The flash mob by Red FM, the performance of Oorali band and the screening of Jayaraj’s film Ottal added more colors to the program.
